    Description

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Matric
    • Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Operations, Supply Chain or Related
    • + 15 years in Logistics
    • + 8 years of experience in a management/ executive role
    • Project management approach
    • Experience of large-scale people management and skill development
    • Experience of driving high performance work culture
    • Experienced in management of cross departmental relationships.
    • Proven track record with solid references
    • Highly skilled communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.
    • Customer focused, proven analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead and manage the receipt, dispatching, storage, security and administration of merchandise in all our Outbound facilities.
    • Ensure the maintenance of company assets and information systems.
    • Ensuring outbound operations is efficient and effective throughout the organisation.
    • Planning, organising, and strategizing facility layout, process flow and the daily operations throughout our DC & Hub facilities
    • Manage the design of facilities in so far as layout, product and process flow and operational systems.
    • Overseeing receiving, warehousing, and distribution dispatch operations.
    • Implementing operational policies and procedures.
    • Ensuring the safety, motivation and disciplining of staff.
    • Assess and make recommendations for facility planning, layout, capacity planning and operations processes in facilities and advise of cost implications and efficiency
    • Provide meaningful Operations data to others in the organisation to aid Supply Chain and cost improvements
    • Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
    • Support new business initiatives and projects and contribute to review meetings and change processes.
    • Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing logistics and supply chain strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
    • Leadership: Providing leadership and direction to the logistics and supply chain teams, including managers and specialists.
    • Budget Management: Managing the budget for logistics operations, optimizing costs, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
    • Supply Chain Optimization: Continuously improving supply chain processes, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution.
    • Inventory Management: Ensuring efficient inventory control to maintain the right level of stock while minimizing carrying costs.
    • Transportation Management: Overseeing the transportation of goods, optimizing routes, and selecting appropriate carriers.
    • Vendor and Supplier Management: Managing relationships with suppliers and negotiating favorable terms and contracts.
    • Distribution Network: Optimizing the distribution network to meet customer demands efficiently.
    • Demand Forecasting: Collaborating with sales and marketing teams to forecast demand and plan accordingly.
    • Warehouse Operations: Managing warehouse facilities and ensuring efficient storage, handling, and distribution of goods.
    • Technology Integration: Implementing and utilizing logistics and supply chain management software and technology for better tracking and efficiency.
    • Performance Metrics: Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of logistics operations.
    • Compliance: Ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and compliance requirements, such as customs, trade regulations, and safety standards.
    • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks in the supply chain and implementing strategies to mitigate them, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
    • Sustainability and Green Logistics: Implementing eco-friendly practices and sustainable logistics solutions to reduce the environmental impact.
    • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing changes to enhance logistics efficiency.
    • Supplier Diversity: Promoting supplier diversity and inclusion initiatives within the supply chain.
    • Contract Negotiation: Negotiating contracts with carriers, suppliers, and service providers to secure favorable terms.
    • Customer Relationship Management: Ensuring a high level of customer service, managing customer expectations, and resolving issues.
    • Reporting to Leadership: Providing regular reports to senior management or the CEO on logistics and supply chain performance, challenges, and opportunities.
