    Description

    This role manages a range of real return, multi asset class strategies which are implemented on a multi manager basis. The solutions are offered in both the retail and institutional markets. The incumbent is accountable for achieving the results and the management of others. The role also serves as a key Exco member of the business and works closely with both the Investment Product teams and Distribution teams.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Strategic Oversight and Design:

  • Provide steer to the investment team (aligning and motivating) for business strategic outcomes.
  • Provide ownership and adherence to the business investment philosophy and process.
  • Provide overall strategic direction and guardrails for the investment process. Allowing for innovation within parameter for the Manager Research, Asset Allocation, Portfolio Construction and Portfolio Management subprocess.
  • Manage external manager relationships from a strategic point of view – fee negotiations, bulk arrangements, etc.
  • Keep abreast of industry dynamics and ensure the investment team and operating model is future fit.

    • Operational Management:

  • Manage the investment team to ensure accountability of deliverables to highest standards and agreed processes.
  • Maintain regular review sessions to test failures/fragilities of the various elements the of investment process.
  • Develop and maintain strict cadence of meetings for the sub functions of the investment process.

    • Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure that all investment activities are conducted in alignment with business objectives and requirements.
  • Ensure that all investment activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards.

    • Innovation and Adaptation:

  • Lead efforts in incorporating alternative theses and strategies, new research, technologies, and analytical tools into the investment process.
  • Foster a culture of thought leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement.

    • Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the investment team, fostering an environment of trust, accountability, excellence, collaboration, client centricity, professional development, and high performance.

    • Communication and Reporting:

  • Act as the primary spokesperson for investment strategy and performance to stakeholders, including Clients, the Exco, and the public.
  • Ensure quality, transparent, and comprehensive reporting across all aspects of the investment process.

    • Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • CA / CFA / MBA
  • Post Grad in Investment Management.
  • Industry experience 10+ years,
  • Multi Management 5+ years.
  • High level of accountability and ownership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
