**Primary Purpose

The Head of Development a has a key role to deliver strategic growth within the Smart City working on new projects, JVs and strategic alliances, analyzing potential opportunities, performing valuations, assessing strategic fit and executing deals and transactions.


The Head of Development supports the Group CEO in strategic investments and new project development in order to maintain a high performing investment portfolio and build a high-achieving team.

He/she is to maximize bottom line opportunities for the business.

**Main Responsibilities

New Projects Development

  • Collaborate with the CEO in setting the strategic financial directions of the company and advise on how to meet targets and create investment capital
  • Work on new projects, joint ventures and strategic alliances to ensure strategic growth within the Smart City
  • Lead each transaction/project from start to completion having to:
  • Use financial modelling to predict outcomes and assess strategic fit
  • Prepare prefeasibility, feasibility and annual business plans for new projects
  • Assess and predict financial risks and returns
  • Conduct due diligence and assessments of projects as well as the JV partner or tenant
  • Liaise with all stakeholders involved in transactions such as banks and financial institutions, accountants, lawyers, financial experts and regulatory bodies and lead negotiations as appropriate
  • Structure transaction and financial details and execute deals
  • Collaborate with CEO in fund raising
  • Prepare formal high quality presentations for banks, for the Board and Board Strategic Investment Committee for decision making on new projects, JVs and strategic alliances.
  • Prepare and review contracts, agreements, legal and transaction documents
  • Collaborate closely with the Group Head of Finance on budgets, reviews, management accounts and final accounts

People Management

  • Ensure the promotion of a positive internal climate to encourage positive thinking and open communication
  • Oversee the activities of the team and support further development of the new projects development through the delivery of high quality financial services across the business
  • Select, coach, develop, manage, mentor, review performance of teams; work with department leaders to develop goals and measurements/ performance metrics for their area
  • Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication
  • Create a culture that promotes employee health, safety and wellness in all aspects of work.

Person Specification
Typical qualities of a successful Senior Development or Investment Executive include:

  • Strategic deal maker with strong negotiation skills
  • Strong financial analysis and business modelling skills (working with Excel)
  • Excellent report writing for Board and Strategic Investment Committees with focus on conciseness and key commercial issues (working with PowerPoint)
  • Ability to make convincing and well supported recommendations
  • Supportive/flexible/collaborative Relationship Management with commitment to working as part of a small and busy team and ability to multitask
  • Strong understanding of the business's financial policies and procedures
  • Attention to detail
  • Entrepreneurial and adaptability to a dynamic environment
  • Proactively capable to provide insightful recommendations to the business on opportunities realized form his/her own personal research initiatives
