    Description

    Our client is seeking a Financial Accountant to support clerical and administrative functions pertaining to general ledger (GL) accounts and assist in managing the administrative tasks across all companies within the SA Fishing Division and affiliated entities. Additionally, provide assistance with any ad hoc requests from Senior Finance staff while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain and review cash books for both Rand and CFC accounts, conducting monthly bank account reconciliations for entities within the Sea Harvest Group.
    • Manage ad hoc EFT payments efficiently.
    • Prepare income tax schedules for tax returns disclosure purposes for all entities within the Sea Harvest Group.
    • Administer petty cash and maintain records.
    • Manage the fixed asset register and handle fixed assets administration.
    • Administer and maintain Forward exchange contracts.
    • Update daily exchange rates on the financial system.
    • Prepare monthly general journals, including interest calculations for various loans.
    • Maintain monthly GL reconciliations, including intercompany recharges.
    • Prepare VAT returns accurately.
    • Undertake other ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as required.

    Requirements

    • Possess a BCom degree with a major in Accounting.
    • Preferably have 5+ years of experience in GL entries, cashbook management, and intercompany entries.
    • Proficient in MS Office, with advanced skills in MS Excel.
    • Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent people skills and the ability to work well within a team.
    • Demonstrates innovation, analytical, and conceptual thinking.
    • Ability to work independently and adapt to change.
    • Possesses a sound understanding of business operations.
    • Exhibits initiative, drive, and energy in executing tasks.
