    The IIE's Varsity College, Waterfall Campus has a vacancy for a Lecturer: User Interface Design and Usability (Part-Time).

    Minimum Qualification Requirements:

    • Masters in Information Technology.

    Alternatively:

    • An NQF 9 qualification that includes Information Technology topics​​.
    Minimum Work Experience Required for User Interface Design Lecturer:
    • ​Lecturing experience in databases and/or programming.
    • Familiar with use of T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio.
    • Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
    • Knowledge of the following concepts:
      • Design Principles
      • Cognition Theory
      • Data gathering techniques.
      • Action Model
      • Web and Desktop navigation menus
      • Mobile application navigation menus
      • Physical forms
      • Desktop online forms
      • Mobile forms
      • Human Computer Interaction Domain
      • User Centred design
      • Design Theories, Models and Principles
      • Data Gathering
      • Navigation, Menus and Design Guidelines
      • Form Design
      • User Interface Design and Usability Prototyping
      • User Interface Design and Usability Evaluation and Usability Testing
      • User Interface Design and Usability Graphics and Visual Design
      • User Interface Design and Usability Interaction Styles
      • User Interface Design and Usability Design Languages and Styles
      • Reports and Error Messages
      • Emerging trends in HCI
      • Work experience as a software developer/ application developer/ mobile programmer.
    • The candidate must have worked within the tertiary institution so that they understand what students will experience of tertiary institutions and what is expected from them.
    • The candidate must have a solid understanding of academic skills and how to assist the students to incorporate these skills into their studies.

    Working Conditions:

    • Availability to lecture Part-time during the week, between 8am – 5pm on campus.
    • Provide a student support function through consultations, where necessary.
    • Grade all assessments for assigned classes.
    • Please note that this is an Independent Contractor role.
