Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety, Health, Environment, and Risk (SHER) Manager to lead and manage our organization''s safety, health, environmental, and risk management programs.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
The SHER Manager will play a crucial role in creating a safe and sustainable work environment, minimizing risks, and promoting a culture of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Policy Development and Implementation:
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety, health, environmental, and risk management policies and procedures.
Ensure policies are aligned with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
2. Compliance Assurance:
Monitor and enforce compliance with local, provincial and national safety and environmental regulations.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address non-compliance issues.
3. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies for mitigation.
Implement measures to minimize workplace accidents, injuries, and environmental impact.
4. Training and Awareness:
Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee awareness of safety, health, and environmental issues.
Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
5. Incident Investigation:
Lead investigations into safety incidents, accidents, and environmental spills.
Analyze root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
6. Emergency Response Planning:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans to address potential workplace emergencies.
Coordinate drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency procedures.
7. Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and submit regulatory reports related to safety, health, and environmental performance.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and corrective actions.
8. Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.
Implement initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness of the SHER program.
Qualifications:
Bachelor''s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
Professional certification in safety management is advantageous.
Proven five or more years of experience as a SHER Manager or in a similar role.
In-depth knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to influence and drive a positive safety culture.
