    This is a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Application Support Engineer to gain DevOps & SDLC experience with Africa's leading financial services group.

    This Application Support Engineer role is based in Cape Town and is offering up to R300K per annum.

    THE ROLE:

    As the Application Support Engineer, you'll work under general supervision to schedule operational time, recommend standard policies and procedures, and coordinate preventive maintenance requirements. Shift work, including nights, will be part of your routine as you maintain a specific schedule, manage application deployments, and uphold the stability and performance of this company's application platforms. You'll play a pivotal role in implementing and managing environment, platform, and application monitoring, constantly seeking ways to optimize this company's systems for maximum efficiency. Collaboration with Change, Incident, Project, and Release Management teams will be key as you provide insights and support for runtime and deployment operations.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • NQF5 or undergraduate Degree in Information Technology/ CompSci/ Information Systems
  • 2+ Years of runtime operations support experience
  • 2+ Years as a basic Linux user
  • 2+ Years in deployment operations
  • Proficient in Apache Tomcat, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and RedHat JBoss EAP (or WildFly)
  • DevOps tooling exposure
  • Proficient in Atlassian JIRA, Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • Understanding of APIS, REST and SOAP Services
  • Understanding of the SDLC
  • Practical exposure to CI/CD principles
