    Description

    Main job function

    Manage a team of engineers and technicians and take charge of conducting design, development and building of automated processing and assembly machines.

    This activity includes:

    • Taking responsibility for the entire development lifecycle, from initial concept and design to testing, and final production.
    • Assess the engineering team to ensure that sufficient skill levels are available for projects and that critical functions are duplicated where necessary.
    • Develop project plans, define objectives, scope, timelines, and budget constraints.
    • Identifying latest technologies that can be applied within budgetary constraints of new automation projects.
    • Engage with stakeholders, manage expectations, and ensure effective communication.
    • Identify and assess risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor risk factors.
    • Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation.
    • Prepare and present project status reports, document progress

    Criteria

    • A University degree or equivalent, preferably a degree in Mechatronics or a verifiable track record in automation technologies.
    • A qualification in project management and at least 5 years project management experience, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
    • A strong working knowledge of PLC systems and the programming thereof. (Integral knowledge of Siemens PLCs and HMIs preferable)
    • Strong project management experience in leading and managing engineering projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. A solid understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
    • Strong leadership abilities, including the ability to lead, inspire, motivate teams, provide guidance, and make sound decisions. Experience in Leading and managing cross-functional project teams.
    • Strong organizational skills are essential to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and maintain efficient systems, processes and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important for effectively conveying information, actively listening and interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
    • The ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and handle unexpected situations is essential.
