Boniswa Mahlanyana

I'm nothing more nor less than a handywoman with a sense of humus, an Enthusiastic Emerging Farmer. I have 9 years exposed to Professional Agriculture Practically and I grew up I a Family that believes in growing its own fresh meat and Vegetables, so I started growing vegetables at the age of 11.

I studied Agricultural science and Agricultural management Practices in high school. Where I was exposed to different farming activities like vegetables and poultry as practicals for 4years.

Then furthered my education in a tertiary level doing Farming management then did an internship of a Handpicked Program at Mr Price Foundation.

My studies affirmed my conviction; farming, thrilled to have facilitated ECDs Principals venturing into 'Urban Farming'. Working for 'The Farm Nearby with Niya Consulting' nurtured my leadership skills, fostering assertiveness, dedication, and responsibility.

I am an enthusiastic, self-motivated, reliable, responsible and hardworking person.

In the field, i learned that farming thrives on passion and diligence.

My favorite thing about being an aspiring farmer is being in a relationship with Earth.

Did a farming management internship of 6 months, where  I was exposed to managing hydroponic growing vegetables and germination 

Worked as a Agricultural Site Supervisor for 10months  in Vegetables(on ground and hydroponics growing systems)and Gernination . Super Passionate and Driven for Agriculture and Nature. 

My past Duties were:

High School

Growing of chicks from 1 day old to mature chicken cleaning, feeding, weighing, and medicating chicks, relocating from different stages. Maintenance of Layers chickens, collecting eggs,counting and collecting data to packaging and distribution of eggs. Growing of vegetables from Germination, transplanting, Growing and maintenance of crops. Composting.

Internship

Preparing growing medium, Germinating, Transplanting,  Maintenance of growing crops e.g trelising pruning spraying and feeding, irrigation, harvesting and distribution of the produce.

Agricultural Site Supervisor 

Supervise, monitor and enforce procedures to maintain crop health . Supervise and oversee growing crop-related operations. Supervise maintenance of infrastructure, equipment, and supplies. Develop work schedules and establish procedures. Plan for daily to weekly tasks. Collect data and information and compile weekly and monthly reports updates. Training ECDs Principals on Garden Practices of urban farming. Hands on all operations making sure they are done properly and neatly from Germinating, Propagation,and preparation, transplanting, maintenance e.g pruning and trelising or spraying, to harvesting and distribution of produce.

About Me:

I am an enthusiastic,self-motivated, reliable,responsible and hardworking person.I am a mature team worker and adaptable to all challenging situations.I am able to work well under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines and flexible both in indoor and outdoor work.

I am  very realistic person.I prefer work that requires technical, mechanical, physical or athletic skills. I  enjoy working with my hands or with objects.

I have a social type of personality,I am concerned about others and their needs. I enjoy communicating with other people, very helpful and friendly. I love solving problems by discussing them.

I am artistic ,not very, I like using my imagination and creativity.
