- The overarching purpose of this role is to lead the Big Data, Business Intelligence, Data & Analytics, CVM, and Loyalty technology strategy, technical solution and functional use-case delivery, associated technical shared services operations, and related technology infrastructure and application architecture oversight across the entire Vodacom Group Markets including Vodacom/Vodafone Partner Markets, Safaricom, MPESA Africa.
- Lead the setup and implementation of the Vodacom Group Big Data, CVM Technology Centres of Excellence and expand the Group Loyalty platform capabilities to service the Vodacom markets in Africa through the cloud Big Data AI/ML multi-tenant shared capabilities, standardized CVM platform, and introduce capabilities to enable the Vodacom - markets as data-driven organisations. Technical delivery execution of the Vodacom Group Big Data artificial intelligence and machine learning, CVM, and Loyalty strategic initiatives to enable incremental value creation across the Vodacom markets. Steer and guide the markets on-premise Data & Analytics systems transformation to a cloud-based solution, aligned with the Tech2025 Group strategy. Strategically steers the Vodacom Group Data & intelligence technology strategy including the technical leadership on data governance and strategic data & intelligence evaluations of cloud options and on-premise alternatives.
- Define a 3-year technical strategy and roadmap to ensure alignment with key business outcomes. Ensure technical designs are tightly aligned with the Technology strategy and associated golden rules.
- Implementation and instantiation of the Vodacom Group Big Data and CVM centers of excellence covering People, Process, and Technology through leveraging and negotiating Group deals with Group SCM to drive competitive pricing and cost structure with centralised COE delivery units to ensure faster time to market, reusability, and standardisation.
- Cloud Big Data application software design, build, and delivery through optimised software factory delivery squads working in accordance with DevSecOps best practices. Lead and mould the technical cloud architecture, design, build, and deployment of a public-cloud multi-tenant shared Vodacom Group Regional Data Lake and Big Data Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities to enable the Agile delivery of defined business outcomes and deliverables agreed in the Program Increment (PI).
- Shape the Vodacom- markets Data and Analytics eco-system (Oracle Exadata MIS) transformation strategy and tactical plan for on-premises BI applications to cloud-based solutions that will be scalable and cost-effective.
- Lead and shape the data & intelligence technology strategy alignment across the functional domains, namely, CVM, Loyalty, Commercial Operations (COPS), Network, Cybersecurity, Energy Management, etc.
- Steer the design and implementation of Big Data cloud DataOps, SecOps, and FinOps to ensure efficient and effective Big Data cloud platform, application, and security operations.
- Technical leadership in respect of the Vodafone Corporate Data Governance policy across all markets. Steer and guide the technology tooling for data quality implementation and execution across on-premise and cloud data & analytics environments.
- Provide strategic steer, guidance, and leadership in respect of data & intelligence cloud options (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) and on-premise alternatives to public cloud for Big data, BI & analytics workloads across the Vodacom Group markets.
- Spearhead the technology standardization to ensure feature and capability consistency to unlock efficiencies, economies of scale, and synergies across the markets and Africa Group markets.
- Group Big Data, CVM, and Loyalty budget planning, budget rollout execution, supplier management, contract compilation & monitoring.
- Definition, implementation, and execution of cost efficiency programs to ensure efficient and lean operation of the Big Data, CVM COEs.
- Build an engaged, purpose-driven motivated, high-performing Group Big Data, CVM COE software factory delivery teams to execute the Vodacom Group Big Data, CVM, and Loyalty strategy in support of the digital transformation across the markets.
- Build effective and constructive relationships with key business stakeholders and market leaders.
- Assure the Cloud Big Data, CVM, and Loyalty technical solutions in adherence to Vodacom policies and frameworks, namely, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, Regulatory, Business Continuity, and Enterprise Risk Management.
- Executive status & progress reporting on Strategic Programmes tracked and monitored at Vodacom Group Steering Committees, Vodacom Product Boards, Group CIO Exco, Group CTO Technology Exco, etc.
- Degree in Information Systems, BSc Computer Sciences, BSc Electrical Engineering (or similar tertiary qualification)
- 8 – 10 years management experience, in a large-scale software technical delivery domain, preferably in the Big data and Business Intelligence domain.
- Good understanding of BSS ( CRM) ecosystems and integration
- Solid understanding of cyber security, internal audit controls, practices, and processes to ensure maximum quality and reduction of operational and business risks.
- Experience in Big Data, Business Intelligence, CVM technical architecture, operation, and delivery.
- Detailed knowledge of Big Data, Business Intelligence, CVM, and Loyalty products and design methodologies.
- Detailed knowledge of cloud-based Big Data and Business Intelligence architectures and toolsets.
- Proven record of leading large-scale software development factory teams.
- People leadership and management of large teams, working in accordance with DevSecOps practices, aligned with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies.
- Management of large-scale complex technical transformations, specifically Big Data and Business Intelligence environments, to public cloud-based technologies.
- Knowledge and proven implementation of SAFe software development delivery practices.
- Big Data and Business Intelligence eco-system, tooling & product design, and implementation, both on-premises and in the cloud.
- Management of technical operations, in a large-scale on-premises and cloud-based data and analytics technical environment. This includes alignment of operations to DevSecOps practices and principles.
