The Top Five Posts on LinkedIn
A recent LinkedIn Article lists the top five posts on LinkedIn, based on the number of Likes and Shares the posts received. I found it interesting reading and I made a few extracts from the grouping of posts. Here are a number of salient points on the articles and on the authors:
One article is by a LinkedIn Influencer. The rest are by “non-Influencers.”
One article goes back to 2014, two were published only in the last few months.
Brigette Hyacinth, who also publishes on beBee, is at number two. Congratulations!
The shortest article is only 298 words; the longest is just under 1000 words.
All five articles are about the workplace; wellbeing, colleagues and employees.
The number one article is titled: “Always Leave the Office on Time.” (I sure try to!)
Second: “How you treat your employees will determine the fate of your company.”
The third is: “Loyal employees are worth much more than their weight in gold.”
The five authors come from four different countries; two are from the UK.
The top article received more than 260 000 Likes, and in excess of 70 000 Shares.
All five articles each have more than 4000 comments; the top post has 10 300.
Two authors have posted just a handful of other LI articles, one author only six.
One author has 7 million followers (guess who?), another has much less - 7 000.
The youngest of the authors is in his 20's, the oldest roundabout six decades.
The five top LI articles have in aggregate accumulated more than 1 million Likes.
Why does this tell me?
It indicates the following about social media articles:
1. A short form article can do just as well as a longer post.
2. Engagement is not directly correlated to follower numbers.
3. A long track record of posting is not neccesarily required.
4. Top authors are diverse and spread across the world.
That said, I am active on both social media platforms; LinkedIn and BeBee.
Each have their own unique characteristics as well as overlapping qualities.
And as Javier 🐝 beBee
Yet, for many reasons I like it more here on BeBee.
Much more.

I agree with Pascal Derrien .. The topics people "Like" is monotonic "Leadership", "Management" and "Work". The number of "Like" is a good measure about the popularity. But I have a BIG DOUBT whether the people really read the contents or just blown away with the viral wave? My recent LI short form post questions that - https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6330332921701982208

Robert Cormack Good point you make Robert - every site has its own idiosyncracies - and a post on one might do better than the same on the other - and vice versa. Thanks for commenting.

Steve Jones People share for different reasons I would think, including their thinking that the post has interesting content and could be of value for others, so shares are not totally random and about luck Also, one does not need to be a follower to share a post. Thanks for the question Steve– hope I answered you.
