    Brief Description

    Responsibilities:

    a) Teaching and Learning


    •Contribute to teachingpsychiatric occupational therapy theory andpractical skills undergraduate occupational therapy students.


    •Contribute to the supervision of undergraduate occupational therapy students during clinical fieldwork on the primary healthcare platform and other community­ basedsettings.Occasionally,supervisionin tertiaryhospitalsmayalso be required.


    •Contribute toteachingregarding occupational therapy in the fieldof psychiatry to postgraduate occupational therapy students.


    •Contribute to the development andthe maintaining of standards of the undergraduate Problem Based Learningeducational programme.


    •Supervisionofundergraduateandpostgraduateresearchprojects.

    b) Research


    •Maintain and expand their ownresearch profile,publish annually and contribute tothe departmental research programme.An existing publication record is essential.


    •Conceptualise,develop and implement large, multi-phased, multi-investigator studies that will attract grant funding.Experience in grant writing will be advantageous.

    c) Administration, ManagementandIncomeGenerationActivities


    •Administrationofstudentmarks, fieldworkandexaminationtimetables.


    •Setandmarktests andexaminations, compilemarksandorganizeandco-ordinate fieldworkblocks and postgraduate programmes.


    •ExpandtheDepartment'sIncomeGenerationProgrammes.

    d) ProfessionalDevelopmentandServicetotheAcademicandProfessional Community


    •ContributetothegeneralpromotionanddevelopmentoftheDepartmentandthe profession withintheSchool,University andcommunity.


    •ContributetoDepartment,School,FacultyandUniversitymeetings.


    •Contributetothedevelopmentoftheprofessionofoccupationaltherapy.


    •Developprofessional knowledgeandskillasanoccupational therapyacademicand educator and researcher.


    •Developprofessionalknowledgeandskill frameworks inthefieldofpsychiatry.

    QualificationsandExperience:


    •Current registration withtheHPCSA asanoccupationaltherapist in independent practice


    •Applicantsmustbein possessionofaPhD,plus8 peer-reviewed publicationsandhavegraduatedat least 3 postgraduate students.


    •ApostgraduatequalificationinHealthSciencesEducationwouldbeanadvantage.


    •Applicants must have both clinical and academic experience.Clinical and teaching experience in the field of psychiatry is essential.At least five (5) years' experience at a tertiary educational institution is required.


    •MusthaveaSouthAfricandriver'slicense.
