SENIOR LECTURER:
Technology and Engineering Graphics and Design


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Evidence of research and successful postgraduate supervision and at least five years applicable practical, teaching and research experience.
  • Using CAD systems for the creation of 3D models including surface modelling and technical 2D drawings.
  • Experience in robotics and developing new methods and algorithms for improving existing robots or creating new ones will be an added advantage.
  • Evidence of teaching at university level especially on creative concept designs, utilising free hand sketches to communicate engineering concepts and functions.
  • Experience in using multimedia presentation software to enhance teaching and learning in varying contexts of the South African classrooms and the development of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the areas of EGD and Mechanical Technology.
  • Experience in programming robots to perform specific tasks such as picking up objects with robotic hands and responding to changes in its environment will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in using Learning Management Systems to develop instructional content and expand access to instructional activities.
  • Excellent computer skills and demonstrable knowledge of integrating Information & Communication Technology (ICT) tools in their teaching and the ability to develop digital learning materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop research agenda, publish in accredited scholarly journals, and secure external funding to support research and postgraduate students.
  • Supervision of postgraduate students to completion.
  • Contribute to the values of the school: teaching excellence, inclusivity, digital innovation, student success, etc.
  • Contribute to the development and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • Coordinate courses and programmes in the school including participating in committees.
  • Should have strong technical mathematical and drawing skills required to study the fundamentals of engineering technology.
  • An ability and willingness to work in teams.

Remuneration:
Dependent on qualifications and relevant experience.
