Job Description: DevOps Engineer - JHB- 12 month contract (Azure and Jenkins)

Location: Gauteng, Johannesburg Metro, Johannesburg

Job Type: Contract, 12 months

Job Duties:

Collaborate with development and operations teams to design and implement automation solutions using Azure DevOps and Jenkins
Manage and maintain the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline
Monitor and troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues, providing timely resolution
Implement best practises for software development, deployment, and infrastructure automation
Develop and maintain deployment scripts and configuration management tools
Ensure security and compliance standards are met throughout the development and deployment process
Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements
Provide technical guidance and support to development teams
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the DevOps space
Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required

Required Qualifications:

Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or related field
Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role
Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps and Jenkins (advantageous)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional certifications in Azure DevOps or Jenkins
Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure
Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
Understanding of Agile methodologies

Working Conditions:

This is a 12 month contract position based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The DevOps Engineer will collaborate with development and operations teams, and may need to attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required. The work environment is fast-paced and collaborative, with a focus on implementing automation solutions and ensuring security and compliance standards are met. The engineer should stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the DevOps space.
