CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
Reporting to the Head of Department, the Clinical Co-Ordinator is required to:
Coordinate the delivery of teaching and assessment of medical students on the clinicalhealthcare platform.
Enhance the development of fit for purpose primary healthcare-oriented graduates.
Function in close cooperation with the MBChB Coordinator in rolling out the clinical component of the MBChB program.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
To participate in the curriculum development of the MBChB Program.
To establish and build relationships on the clinical healthcare platform for clinical rotations.
To coordinate clinical rotations on the clinical platform.
To coordinate assessments for the clinical rotations.
To teach, assess and provide timeous feedback to medical and health science students.
To develop and utilize a variety of creative teaching methodologies, including blended and onlineapproaches.
To participate in clinical skills learning and teaching at clinical training sites and the Clinical SkillsLaboratory.
To support and contribute to interprofessional learning opportunities.
To take an active role in research, including the supervision of undergraduate and post graduateHealth Sciences students.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Possession of sound clinical knowledge and skills as a medical professional.
Experience in teaching Health Sciences students.
Ability to keep abreast of the latest, innovative technological changes and trends in Clinical Medicine and Health Professions Education.
Ability to work flexibly in cross-functional teams in the teaching and development of students in the Medical School and Faculty of Health Sciences.
Ability to consult and provide advice, facilitate discussion, and resolve any areas of conflict.
Recognize and deal with cultural diversity, and establish trust, credibility and respect with the medical program team and medical students.
Experience in engaging with relevant committees including community engagement.
POST REQUIREMENTS
Education
MBChB degree.
Registered with the HPCSA as an independent practitioner.
A postgraduate qualification in Health Professions Education will be an advantage.
Experience and skills
A minimum of 5 years clinical work experience as an independent medical practitioner in South African public and/or private health facilities.
A minimum of 3 years work experience in teaching and learning. Valid drivers license.
