Sinoxolo Odidi Mahlatshana

26 year old Master of Journalism student from the Durban University of Technology. I hold a Btech (cum ladue) Journalism qualification and currently work at KZN Government department, under the Corporate Communications Unit.

My name is Sinoxolo Odidi Mahlatshana, I am currently a Corporate Communications Intern at the KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. I mainly work under the PR, Marketing and Advertising & Publishing sub-directorate. This is where I am responsible for the Department's brand image;writing for both internal and external publications, drafting and executing communication plans, writing the department's media statements and the MEC's remarks and researching and consolidating information for our various publications. In the course of my career, I have had the privilege of assisting with lecturing 3rd year Journalism students at my alma mater; the Durban University of Technology. This is where I was assisting with the Journalism Research Project, through introducing students to the world of basic research, helping them to draft research proposals, teaching them various Harvard referencing techniques, assisting them with writing their Literature Reviews, and teaching them the several aspects of a research methodology, mainly data collection and data analysis amongst others. Prior to the above experiences, I was working at a Community Radio Station; Radio Al-Ansaar, where I was responsible for compiling news stories, reading live news bulletins, producing content for current affairs shows and compiling and editing audios for news packages.
