Simone Massey

I am passionate about Retail, Sales and the marketing of retail products. With a strong background in design, my natural creative flair and design knowledge has given me the ability to work within a corporate environment comfortable and competent to deliver successfully. Through my experience of working effectively within a team environment, I have the natural ability to work successfully independently. I thrive on the importance of product knowledge to ensure the success and longevity thereof.  My design background has ensured my attention to detail and disciplined by nature. A sound knowledge of Business and product development has been a key role in my success with the sales and marketing of various retail products. I am motivated to deliver excellent customer service through product knowledge and accurate product information shared with customer base. I have always been fascinated by the power of design, particularly product design and enjoy making a positive impact in the retail industry. 

After graduating, I was a Textile Designer with Prestige Lingerie. This was a division of SA Clothing. I was responsible for designing all the textiles printed and used for the ladies (silk and satin fabrics) sleepwear for various retailers: Woolworths, Edgars, Sales House and Milady’s. I had the privilege to work with Adidas as a textile designer in London within their textile division sourcing fabrics suitable for their designs.During the years that I was a Textile Designer, all aspects of the designing process was done by hand; every design was hand drawn and hand painted. While being in the textile industry, I chose to follow textile design within the clothing industry.My Textile knowledge and experience evolved into a career path of being a Retail Buyer (Ladies Casual wear) for the national retailer Massmart Group, which gave me retail experience that later morphed into being a National Sales Manager for 5 divisions within Clicks Head Office (New Clicks). The sales management portfolio included product description for marketing and on shelf display. In store display and placement. The 5 divisions were Homewares, Electronics (Cellular), Stationery, Confectionery, and Appliances. This extensive and detailed retail experience gained, later extended into business development that was a great learning experience.

My last employment was with Paintsmiths, 2015 - 2022 as an Architectural Specifier managing projects and client base in. Gauteng, Tswane, North West and KZN province. I wrote detailed high end product specifications for my architectural client base applicable for their projects. The detailed specifications were for the Midas and Earthcote product range.

For my tertiary education, I studied Textile Design at Durban University of Technology(Technikon Natal), from 1992 to 1994.
