Judy Caroline Groom

I am 55years old and I am Indian living in South Africa. Durban. I lost my job during the civil unrest, my company was burnt down so I could not work anymore, working from home became a solid option as I outsourced my clients and asked them if I could assist with the accounts and admin and I would charge a fee for the hours I worked, and they pay me an hourly rate rather than a company salary. This option worked in my favor as I could work for several companies and do work at my own pace and time, in time I developed a passion for working alone and independently. I am very committed and focused when I am given a task to complete. I have worked 25years as an accountant, so I know the pressure of company culture and structure. In my free time I hove passion for nature, cooking, and I am an 80s music lover so listen to golden oldies. I am passionate about education, so I motivate kids to complete school. 

At the age of 16, I worked as a sales assistant, went on to finish school, was employed as a Cashier at a local supermarket, which gave me an opportunity to learn about accounts, and banking, i went on to help with restructuring of prices and helping the store stock goods in demand, bringing in more feet to the business. my Boss saw huge potential in me and gave me a promotion to Manager and I excelled at my job, and I went on to study accounts on a higher and more advance level, helping with buying and negotiating prices for the best deal possible. I was given an opportunity to work in a much bigger store and produced excellent results with the first year and soon I was given the position as office manager in the Accounts department. I excelled and I was the new manager of the entire store seeing to debits, credits, good returns, the damaged stocks, the over stocked items, reconciliation of banks statements, submitting value added tax to the revenue services. This I found I was in my element, and I loved it. 

Hands on work experience, developing people skills and on the job work experience made me the most educated person in compassion, and understanding the value of human dignity and life.
