Strategy Strategist:

Director-General Support (12-Month Contract, Ref no DOTP 27/2024)- Department- Department of the Premier- Salary level- 12- Enquiries- Mr R Shaw at Job Type- Contract- Location - Country- South Africa- Location - Province- Western Cape- Location - Town / City- Cape Town, CBD- Job PurposeTo provide strategic advice, guidance and support the Director-General (DG) with development, execution and the implementation of key Western Cape Government (WCG) Policy and Strategy related programmes.


  • Minimum RequirementsAn appropriate 4year post school qualification (NQF 8); A minimum of 6 years relevant experience.
  • RecommendationNone.
  • Key Performance AreasProvide strategic advice, guidance and support on the refinement and development of the WCG Policy and Strategy Programmes (new 2024/29 WCG Provincial Strategic Plan, the provincial and departmental and ministerial Hand-OverReports and EndofTerm Report); Provide strategic advice and guidance on the research and analysis of WCG Policy and Strategy Programme; Manage project implementation that is linked to the WCG Policy and Strategy Programme; Advise and provide support in strategic networks, communication and reporting matters pertaining to the implementation of key WCG Policy and Strategy Programmes.
  • Competencies
    Advanced knowledge of the following: Strategy development, strategy management and strategy monitoring and review processes, public policy analysis and public policy development processes, international and diplomatic relations, intra
- and intergovernmental relations, modern systems of governance and administration, protocol matters, budgeting and financial management process.


Knowledge of the following:

human resource management processes; Constitutional, legal and institutional arrangements governing the South Africa public sector; global, regional and local political, economic and social affairs impacting on the provincial government of the Western Cape; the latest advances in public management theory and practice; the policies of the government of the day e.g.

WCG PSP and Recovery Plan; the latest trends in public sector innovation and innovative methodologies; project management and transformation

  • RemunerationAllinclusive salary package of R per annum (Salary level 12).
