    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Based at City of Durban Branch to further strengthen our local Operations team, we are currently seeking a:

    OPERATIONS MANAGER – (Durban Branch, South Africa)

    Reporting directly to the Branch Manager/National Operations Manager, the successful candidate for this key function will be responsible for:

    • To provide customer service through efficient delivery of products to customers.

      • III. - KEY TASKS

    1. Manage delivery of products to customers

      1. Assess daily transport requirements based on Truck Routing done on the previous day by Route Planners
      2. Oversee and assist in loading of products onto trucks
      3. Supervise Pullers in cleaning of cages after loading of trucks is completed
    2. Ensure transport availability

      1. Hold Meetings with Transport Supervisor to schedule vehicles for service
    3. Attend to logistic enquires and vehicle breakdowns

      1. Attend to queries from Telesales, Sales Reps, Drivers and Customers regarding deliveries
      2. Respond to Bidtrack Vehicle Tracking enquiries regarding delivery trucks
      3. Attend to all Vehicle Breakdowns reported
    4. Manage staff and admin related matters

      1. Compile Timesheets for all staff in Warehouse and Distribution department
      2. Process all staff leave application forms submitted by Warehouse & Distribution staff and forward to Payroll Office
      3. Attend to all staff queries from Warehouse & Distribution staff
      4. Recruit casual staff
      5. Arrange transport for all delivery drivers arriving after 7PM
      6. Complete night-out Allowance forms for country drivers
      7. Supervise duties of staff reporting directly to Distribution manager
    5. Attend and Conduct Key Operations Meetings

      1. Attend Sales meeting every 2nd week
      2. Hold departmental meetings with Drivers and Truck Assistants every weeks on Monday mornings
      3. Hold departmental meetings with Pullers every week
    6. Manage Food Safety

      1. Implementation and control of the food safety system
      2. Coordinate the work of warehouse staff in relation to food safety tasks.
      3. Ensure that all records in relation to food safety are maintained
      4. Carry out Food Safety training sessions
      5. Act as food safety representative during audits.
      6. Follow up on all Audit Non-Conformance
    7. Manage Health and Safety

      1. Ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are complied with
      2. Ensure all health and safety precautionary measures are implemented
      3. Carry out Health and Safety training for staff
    8. Perform other duties as per operational requirements.

    IV. – JOB REQUIREMENT

    • Matric (Grade 12) and knowledge of Freight Transport Systems; National Diploma in Logistics is preferred.
    • 3-5 years' in a logistics environment.
    • Computer literacy: MS Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word), SharePoint and WMS (Johannesburg branch only)
    • Communicate with staff at all levels; communicate with persons outside the organisation; negotiate with customers; establish and maintain interpersonal relationships.
    • Written comprehension – the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
    • Good communication skills - English is a prerequisite.
    • Ability to read and write in English and any other language(s)
    • Good personality, hardworking, team work, service orientated, creative, innovative, trustworthy, open to learn from feedback.
