    Description

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver engaging Afrikaans language and literature lessons to students in grades 8 through 12.
    • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and promotes academic growth.
    • Design assessments and provide constructive feedback to students to support their learning objectives.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary teaching strategies and resources.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
    • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school administrators regarding student performance and any concerns.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
    • Relevant qualification for teaching Afrikaans at a high school level.
    • Experience teaching Afrikaans language and literature to students in grades 8 through 12 is preferred.
    • Familiarity with the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) curriculum is advantageous.
    • Passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
    • S.A.C.E. (South African Council for Educators) registered or eligible for registration.

    Skills:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans.
    • Strong classroom management skills.
    • Ability to engage and motivate students.
    • Proficiency in using educational technology and learning management systems.
    • Collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a team.
    • Adaptability and flexibility to meet the needs of individual students and the school community.
