Minimum requirements for the role:


  • Must have an MSc degree in Agriculture
  • Minimum 10 years post qualification experience in a Sales or Technical role within the agricultural sector is essential
  • Prior experience in the management of subordinates will be required
  • Must possess extensive knowledge of the agrochemical and agronomy disciplines with the relevant technical and industry background
  • The ability to network and interface successfully at multiple organisational levels, internally and externally is important for this role
  • Proficiency at the intermediate level of MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
  • Must have basic budgeting and cost control/management skills
  • Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems standards/requirements is advantageous
  • Experience in collecting and analysing data
  • Must have knowledge of the regulatory environment as it pertains to the agricultural sector
  • Must have a valid drivers license, own reliable transport and be medically fit to drive
***- Identifying and preparing development plans for each member of the Technical Advisory Team.

  • Devising and implementing a strategy to bridge the knowledge gap between Agronomy and Chemical Advisory.
  • Conducting ongoing training needs analyses to ensure that the Technical Advisory Team delivers on the companys strategies and projects, and ensuring that the training is then cascaded by the Technical Advisory Team to the Sales Team.
  • Contributing to the Advisory Teams Intellectual Property (IP) and technical support systems through strategies related to training, skills development programs, and conferences.
  • Determining the best use of resources within the Technical Advisory Department to deliver optimal results.
  • Designing strategies related to cropspecific programs and ensuring that the Advisory Team executes these strategies with the intention of driving inhouse sales and maintaining a focus on priority crops.
  • Ensuring that targeted training programs are executed by the Advisory Team and that the team provides the Crop Advisors with the necessary skills and information to drive sales.
  • Sharing technical expertise with the Sales Team.
  • Assisting with solving complex and technical product selectionrelated problems, which may require visits to growers and advice to the Technical Advisor and/or Crop Advisors as part of the problemsolving process.
  • Developing crop programs.
  • Devising a sales strategy that aims to establish a profitable balance between the sale of inhouse products and thirdparty products.
  • Ensuring that training workshops are presented by Technical Advisors with Crop Advisors upskilled in crop programs, and that training of a complex nature is presented by the Advisory Manager.
  • Investigating complaints and claims regarding crop losses or product efficacy problems that could not be resolved by the Technical Advisor.
  • Interfacing with thirdparty suppliers where necessary to understand their products and positioning in the marketplace.
  • Identifying shortcomings or data requirements of inhouse products and recommending corrective actions or required trials.
  • Playing a key role in mentoring and providing experiential training to the Team to ensure that the companys sales strategy is effectively executed.
