KEY PURPOSE OF JOB


Our team in Somerset West has a permanent position for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to take responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Vibration Test Facility at Newspace Systems.


KEY TASKS

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as well as calibration tasks relating to the vibration test facility.
  • Support modifications and upgrades to the facility.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Set up configuration files to run the various vibration profiles.
  • Maintain and archive configuration files on the PDM database.
  • Do handson test setup (mounting unit on and off the shaker table) and instrumentation (accelerometers etc.)
  • Vibration test operator during test execution.
  • Postprocess test data.
  • Analyse test data and write clientfacing reports.
  • Other adhoc duties as required by the company.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

  • NDIP/B-TECH in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
  • 35 years of practical vibration machine operator experience in mechanical engineering or a hightech environment.

Experience (ideally within the aerospace or defense industry):

  • Experience in executing mechanical testing and maintenance tasks.
  • Experience in structural analysis.
  • Experience with instrumentation and data logging.
  • Appreciation and experience of ISO9001 requirements.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software for fixture design (SolidWorks) would be advantageous.
  • Own car and valid driver's license preferable.
