    Tax Consultant (VAT) or Senior Tax Consultant (VAT)

    Function and Business Unit:

    Tax & Legal - Indirect Tax (VAT) Johannesburg

    Description of the role and purpose of the job:

    To provide a wide range of VAT consulting services to a large portfolio of clients, including involvement on external audits as a specialist, as part of multidisciplinary teams and to provide support to the VAT compliance team as and when required.

    • Assist with VAT reviews as part of external audits
    • Provide VAT consulting services to clients, including drafting VAT opinions and reports, conducting VAT reviews, dispute resolution, etc. for review
    • Interpret facts and apply technical knowledge
    • Prioritise the workload and meet required deadlines
    • Perform research and provide insights and feedback
    • Prepare proposals
    • Build credibility and relationships with clients and colleagues across service lines
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Contribute to the discussions around work and actively participate in training
    • Adapt to a changing work environment and accommodate changing client demands
    • Facilitate teamwork by sharing knowledge with others on a regular basis and actively asking questions to achieve personal and work goals
    • Maintain sound client relationships

    • In-depth accounting knowledge and relevant experience
    • Understanding and working knowledge of external and internal audit objectives and processes

    Minimum requirements to apply for the role (including qualifications and experience):

    Qualified Chartered Accountant with at least two years' experience.
