    *REQUIREMENTS:*-*Essential

    • Minimum NQF level 4, (Grade 12, National Senior Certificate)
    • Knowledge and awareness of occupational health and safety requirements in a laboratory setting;
    • Experience in the safe use of machine tools and hand tools;
    • Computer literacy in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, etc;
    • Valid driver's license (Min Code C1);
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills and a strong commitment to service delivery;
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision; -*Desired
    • A certificate qualification in Civil Engineering in the relevant field;
    • Experience in working in Structures Teaching and Research laboratory;
    • Experience in working in a Teaching and Research Engineering environment;
    • Varied skillset;
    • It is not expected of the post holder to be familiar with all of the equipment and apparatus in the lab, but they should be eager and willing to learn;
    • Ability to work within a team covering many subject areas and to be proactive in covering all aspects of activities in a professional manner. *ROLE SUMMARY:*-Ensure that the labs are clean, tidy and free of clutter; ensure that pieces of equipment are kept clean; keep an up-to-date record of the movement of tools and equipment in and out of the lab; collection and delivery of laboratory material / equipment using the School vehicle as and when instructed by the Senior Technician.-Support for teaching, learning and research including assisting with setting up and dismantling experimental setup for teaching and research in the labs, assisting students with laboratory work; partake in off-campus teaching and learning and research-related activities with staff and/or students.-Procurement and maintenance including monitoring stock of consumables in the lab and ensuring equipment is in good working condition.-Compliance with OH&S rules and regulations in the laboratory , including assisting with health and safety duties such as fire marshal and first aider roles.-Perform any tasks or activities for the general functioning of the School as determined by the Head of School / Principal Technician / Senior Technician. *Enquiries:* Professor Mike Otieno; Head of the School of Civil &
