    Description

    Our client in the Northern Suburbs is in need of an operations Controller. This person will be a key contributor to their freight forwarding and customs clearance department, responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of daily operations without managerial responsibilities. This role demands a solid grasp of logistics and customs procedures, excellent communication skills, and a knack for efficient coordination.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Logistics Coordination:

    Plan, coordinate, and monitor the movement of goods, ensuring timely and efficient transportation.

    Collaborate with carriers, shipping lines, and other stakeholders to optimize freight operations.

    Track and update shipment status, keeping clients informed of progress and any delays.

    Customs Clearance:

    Ensure compliance with customs regulations and documentation requirements for imports and exports.

    Prepare and submit customs documentation, including import and export declarations.

    Liaise with customs authorities to resolve issues and expedite clearance processes.

    Client Communication:

    Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on shipments and address any inquiries or concerns.

    Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for upselling or cross-selling services.

    Quality Control:

    Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation and shipments.

    Investigate and resolve discrepancies or operational issues proactively.

    Cost Management:

    Monitor and control operational costs, optimizing processes to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.

    Identify cost-saving opportunities and make recommendations for improvements.

    Regulatory Compliance:

    Stay up-to-date with changes in customs regulations, trade laws, and industry trends.

    Ensure that all operations are conducted in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

    Reporting and Analysis:

    Prepare regular reports on operational performance, including key metrics and KPIs.

    Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth
