The purpose of this position is to identify, analyze and report credit risk in the reserves
management portfolio of the SARB and advice on corrective actions to be taken. Monitor
credit risk metrices in the portfolios against the set investment guidelines.
• Main responsibilities and tasks include:
Compiling quarterly, monthly and portfolio management review risk reports with regards
to the credit risk position of the portfolios and counterparties.

• Compiling credit applications and assessing the credit worthiness of the counterparties.
• Enhancing risk management and risk reporting processes.
This position provided an opportunity to rotate in the Financial Markets Department with
the Fixed Income team for a period of 12 months. The purpose of the position was to
conduct financial markets research and analysis to inform decisions made in various
Executive committees.
• Main tasks and responsibilities:
• Contributing to special financial markets research reports, briefing notes and flash notes.
Assisting with requests which may include contributions to IMF visit presentations and the
Bank of International Settlements notes.
• Contributing to the creation of a fair value model for South African Government Bonds.
