Career overview: Employment Equity Specialist
Graduated with BTech in Human resources management in 2013 from Nelson Mandela University. My career focus over the past five years has been directed at diversity and inclusion management, I have partnered with small to larger organisations inchampioning equality and inclusion practices in diverse work environments across different business sectors. In the past five years I have had an opportunity to work with over 100 companies in achieving transformation objectives with focus on Employment Equity and Skills Development.
My key focus areas are outlined below:
• Assessing and rectifying company’s policies, practices and procedures in line with transformation objectives
• Analysing work environment, identifying EE related barriers and implementing relevant affirmative action measures
• Developing training content on EE legislation, conducting workshops and analyzing company trends to ascertain return on investment
• Analysing retention rates and proposing retention strategies for both designated and non-designated groups
• Review, analyse and consult on cases of unfair discrimination
• Ensuring compliance by drafting and implementing EE policies, reasonable accommodation policies, recruitment policiesand strategic plans in line with EE and transformation strategies
• Ensuring all companies have fully constituted forums, EE plans, analysis reports and submit EEA2 and EEA4 in line with EE Act requirements
• Ensuring companies implement EAP aligned recruitment in order to attain required score under BBBEE management control pillar
• Sensitizing the work environment on disability management, eliminating barriers related to unfair discrimination on DAE (differently abled employees) ensuring companies retain and accommodate differently abled employees in line with BBBEE objectives
• Aligning EE objectives with succession planning and skills development
• Continuously educating the workforce on diversity and inclusion management
