My doctoral research focused on the crucial area of Assessment Training for English Home Language teachers. This specialization highlights my dedication to enhancing the quality of English language education, particularly through the refinement of assessment practices.

Lifelong learning is essential and I completed the TEFL-course (120 hours) and looking into online possibilities serving education. I was also invited to serve on the Emotive Group of Companies’ Board of Directors and are responsible to oversee Education and Training within the Company.

Summary

I was a dedicated educator (30 years) with a Higher Teacher Diploma, studied a BA-degree in Education and did an Honours degree in Science Education parttime. As a curriculum advisor (9 years), I studied a master’s degree in teaching methodologies and then became become a principal (2 years). As a lecturer (3 yesrs) in training teachers (English Methodology and Education), I focused on Assessment Training for English Home Language teachers as my PhD dissertation. I also completed a 120-hour TEFL course for online education insight.

I am an experienced academic leader with over 40 years in school, district, and tertiary education. My career spans roles as Principal, Subject Adviser, Tertiary Lecturer, Senior Educator, and Board Director, with extensive responsibility for academic operations, curriculum oversight, assessment management, compliance, and institutional governance.

Academic Operations & Leadership

As Principal of two public schools, I managed full academic and administrative operations, including budgeting, staff performance management (SPMDS), School Improvement Plans (SIP), compliance with the South African Schools Act (SASA), and stakeholder engagement. I supervised academic and support staff, implemented quality assurance systems, and ensured alignment with district and provincial education policies.

At district level, as Subject Adviser (West Coast Education District), I coordinated curriculum implementation across multiple schools, managed systemic assessments, moderated academic standards, compiled analytical reports for Head Office, and led professional development initiatives. I implemented national and provincial policies, facilitated literacy and numeracy intervention strategies, and ensured regulatory compliance across institutions.

Tertiary Academic Coordination

As a Tertiary Lecturer (2019–2021), I was responsible for academic planning, study guide development, assessment design, moderation, marking oversight, and external moderation preparation. I coordinated tutors and class representatives, managed online learning via Blackboard, and ensured academic integrity and quality assurance.
