Lona Zatu

I am currently working as a vegetation ecology intern at South African National Parks (SANParks), I have always been passionate about protecting the environment, hence I choose to do a course in environmental science. 

Having completed a variety of quantitative projects in the field, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of collection of field data and mapping techniques, and gain invaluable analytical skills and writing of detailed scientific reports and research. My skills include good working knowledge of programs such as QGIS, ArcGIS and R studio and I also work very well in a team, but I am also confident in assuming responsibility for tasks autonomously.

I am currently working as a Vegetation Ecology intern at South African National Parks (SANParks) and this internship has sharpened and greatly acquainted me with extensive fieldwork experience and invaluable knowledge of conservation and the protecting of biodiversity along with the ability to conduct studies, compile findings and reports. My exposure to working along with different scientists has strengthened my critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to determine the source of any problem detected and how it can be solved without it being harmful to biodiversity nor the environment. This organisation has helped me a lot in consolidating my understanding of the environment and how we can go about conserving it and its biodiversity sustainably.
