Gusty Jacobs

Gusty is a skilled and competent Senior Materials Technician / Senior Laboratory Manager with a proven track record in effective leadership, often in challenging environments where he had to take over problematic site laboratories.  He possesses Senior Materials Technician skills and abilities to resolve problems on site and provide sound technical advice to the Resident Engineer with regards to construction materials and quality acceptance control. He also performs as an Assistant RE and is a Resident Engineer in training.

Gusty Jacobs is a Technologist (University of Johannesburg) with 17 years’ experience as Senior Materials Technician / Site Laboratory Manager, as well as 8 years’ experience in mineralogy within Mining and Metallurgy. 

Gusty is a skilled and competent Senior Materials Technician / Senior Laboratory Manager with a proven track record in effective leadership, often in challenging environments where he had to take over problematic site laboratories.  He possesses Senior Materials Technician skills and abilities to resolve problems on site and provide sound technical advice to the Resident Engineer with regards to construction materials and quality acceptance control. He also performs as an Assistant RE and is a Resident Engineer in training.

As a talented SMT he interprets engineering test methodologies in accordance with COLTO, TMH, TRH, TG-series, SANS, and other relevant standards. Review and evaluate Mix Designs and available construction material sources.

During his career Gusty worked in several exciting projects within SANRAL, SASOL, GAUTRANS and Western Cape DTPW.

His experience includes:

• Specialised asphalt, seal, and slurry mix designs - SRT Pinetown and Sites.
• Geotechnical technical investigations and reporting - Commercial Labs.
• Asphalt production plant - AVENG.
• Concrete technology and construction – Bridges and continuously reinforced concrete pavements (Gauteng Freeways Improvements Projects)
• SANRAL Projects
