Given Mashiangwako

My name is Neo Given Mashiangwako and I am 29 years old. I currently work at Ginkgo Agency as a Content Producer for Beautiful News South Africa. Between 2014 and 2018, I obtained  Honours in Film Theory & Practice at the University of Cape Town.

I am a passionate and enthusiastic writer, researcher, and reader with expertise in a variety of writing styles and conventions. blogs, screenwriting (film, journalism, and television), copywriting (advertising and marketing), and academic writing is all examples of my work.

In my experience, I learned that to be an effective team player, one has to be a leader. The skills I learned and practised in this capacity are the following: trouble-shooter, professional, compassionate, personal organization, critical analysis and attention to detail.

Neo is a film and media producer based in Cape Town with a keen interest in edutainment, sports and pop culture. Between 2017 - 2023, I worked for Okuhle Media as a Content Researcher. In 2019 I took a dive into the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean and joined Robben Island Museum as a Multimedia Assistant until late 2021. 

When the world was overtaken by an outbreak of the pandemic, I explored work in the digital space. I embarked on these unchartered territories with the Ayoba App, an MTN digital buffet of real-time content platforms. Here my role was a Content Specialist whose main function was to administer and curate content. As the dust settled and clouds cleared, I expanded my horizons and took a major step on my creative journey. I joined as a Content Producer for Ginkgo Agency, working on the Beautiful News platform in October 2021. 

This is where my artistry took an upward trajectory until the beginning of 2023. My key role as a Content Producer is to research, pitch and profile ordinary humanitarians, previewing interesting travel destinations, wildlife organizations and individuals protecting endangered species. In the midst of it all, I created my own passion project in 2022, A Gown Of A Thousand Mile where I opened a platform for former varsity Graduates to share their experiences and offer words of wisdom.
