Hello. My name is Akhona Madyibi. I'm a seasoned Senior Copywriter with over 9 years of experience working in digital, BTL, and through-the-line advertising. I have worked on major South African brands such as SASKO, Simba, Debonairs Pizza, and Steers, as well as global players like Spotify, Dark & Lovely, and Visa. My diverse copy experience includes writing concise, call-to-action headlines, optimising web page text, crafting copy in brand tonality, developing brand playbooks, collaborating with designers to make AVs for conferences, and just about every other task you can think of. I enjoy the challenge of transforming a brief into compelling copy and an idea into a creative campaign. 

As a Copywriter, I am responsible for working on agency projects and collaborating with the Creative Directors in our clients' teams to deliver the best work imaginable. I take charge of influencing consumers with clear messages, seek out new trends, and incorporate them into campaigns effectively. I work with a talented creative team in a collaborative environment that leverages both conceptual strengths and creative knowledge. I champion big ideas from concept to execution, ensuring creative integrity aligns with our brand voice and goals. My duties include developing content across various marketing channels, such as website copy, email campaigns, social media posts, and product descriptions, all with a keen understanding of customer journeys. I ensure creative work is executed within the agreed strategy, deadlines, and budget.

The Information Design course at the University of Pretoria focuses on equipping students with the skills to create effective and engaging visual communications. The program covers a range of topics, including graphic design, typography, digital media, and user experience design. Students learn to apply design principles to solve complex communication problems, using both traditional and modern tools. The course emphasises creativity, critical thinking, and practical application, preparing graduates for careers in various design-related fields.
