The Head of Ethics & Compliance Cluster of Southern Africa will develop, lead, and oversee the compliance program, reporting to the Director, Regional Compliance Officer, MEA & PMI Duty-Free.

Driving the Global PMI Compliance mission, you will be accountable for the following:

Empower and enable the Management Team, employees, and close third parties to meet applicable external (legal, regulatory, industry) and internal (policy) requirements by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and advice they need to do their jobs ethically and legally
Assess risk, monitor ongoing compliance, test compliance controls, and investigate potential noncompliance allegations
Drive a culture of compliance that encourages raising concerns about potential or actual compliance violations and proactive addressing of issues

Your day to day

Drive and deliver compliance initiatives across all five pillars of the PMI Global Compliance Program, focusing on the Code of Conduct, Conflicts of Interest, Whistleblowing, and Investigations, as well as legal compliance topics such as Anti-Bribery, Competition law, etc

by:

Governance
Identify, evaluate, and manage compliance risks.
Keep up with the latest developments in ethics and compliance, as well as best practices and benchmarks.
Policy & Processes
Develop and implement compliance policies and processes
Oversee and execute compliance processes
Training & Communications
Raise and maintain compliance awareness
Provide facetoface training to a variety of audiences
Oversee and support elearning
Monitoring & Investigations
Oversee or conductng internal investigations
Improve and sustain the culture of speaking up
Examine the efficacy of compliance programs.
Advisory
Support employees seeking compliance advice in the market
Serve on the local management team
Provide compliance input and strategic business advice
Identify, analyse, and present compliance issues and recommendations.

Who we are looking for

At least 5 years of experience as a compliance officer (manager) or inhouse counsel for a global company
Degree in Law, Business or other relevant fields
Fluent in written and spoken English; Spoken Zulu is advantageous
Experience working in a highly regulated industry with numerous points of contact with government authorities, such as pharma, MedTech, extractive industries, defense industry, etc
Experience handling and solving complex issues and problems
Experience managing and influencing change and overcoming adversity
