Overall Responsibility:

The Filter Operator is responsible for filtering and centrifuging green beer from maturation vessel to bright beer tanks and ensuring that it meets the quality specifications.


Focus Area 1:
Brewing Operator

  • Responsible for filtering and centrifuging beer from maturation vessel to bright beer tanks, BBT management, and cider plant operation, including set up and CIP responsibilities.
  • Perform basic biochemical and chemical laboratory work
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of the filtration, BBT and Cider plant
  • Maintain highly detailed records and analyses
  • Maintain stock levels of filtration raw materials
  • Deliver results and analyses in a timeous manner
  • Look at ways to innovate or improve
  • Must be willing to assist with tasks outside of the normal scope of filtration
  • Must be willing to accept shift work hours, dictated by production schedules
  • Schedules and other monthly KPI's will be established to maximise the effectiveness of this support.

Focus Area 2:
Lab and Cellars

  • Must be comfortable with operations in these areas as they will be required from time to time to oversee activities with this area
  • Must be able to independently perform routine analysis as required for the work areas and product specification adherence

Requirements of the Role:


  • Scientific/engineering/food science qualifications advantageous
  • Former brewing experience and/or brewing qualifications advantageous
  • A passion for beer and brewing
  • Valid driver's license/own transport

Preferred Skills/Competencies:


  • Proficient on Microsoft excel, Word and PowerPoint along with detailed record keeping
  • Able to work well with others
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Willing to work afterhours and on intermittent weekends
Willing to assist in areas other than brewing within the production unit
