TRANSPORT CBD, Western Cape

REPUTABLE GLOBAL CONSULTING FIRM is currently expanding their team of professionals.


This individual will work within their dynamic Transport Practice team but also have the opportunity to work across all their other practices when needed, supporting short-term consulting and longer-term project implementation assignments.


One would describe you as a highly intelligent, open-minded and energetic problem-solver who has multi-perspective views on international development, particularly in transport-related topics.

You are ccomfortable with complexity and detail whilst not losing sight of the broader, strategic objectives of projects.


You are a productive team player who has the ability to communicate project solution proposals to clients in a persuasive that promotes buy-in and builds trust, both through written deliverables and through presentations.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Defining client problems concisely, in simple terms, and developing hypotheses to identify solutions, working collaboratively with clients.
  • Leading or coordinating quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify suitable solutions

This includes applying:

  • Quantitative research methodologies, including data mining, creating financial models, and other analysis.
  • Qualitative research methodologies, including the development of case studies to identify best practices and benchmarks.
  • Initiating and/or facilitating discussions with clients to elaborate on project solution proposals.
  • Assist in providing ongoing advice regarding the implementation of changes to current systems of revenue flow, estimation and valuation of existing businesses.
  • Formulation of compensation payouts strategies.
  • Leading or coordinating the development of highquality project deliverables, including slide decks, reports, financial models or other analytical tools.
  • Presenting findings to clients, partners and senior decisionmakers in government, development finance and the private sector with a high level of confidence.
  • Managing crossfunctional and geographically dispersed teams tackling complex business, economic and social challenges for clients.
  • Cultivating and managing relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Managing stakeholders, both in the formal and informal sectors that the company works with and assisting the clients in doing the same.
  • Managing subcontractors, including overseeing the delivery of highquality deliverables by these parties.
  • Developing knowledge products on topics in the sectors that the company works in.
  • Supporting project management and administration, to comply with client or company requirements and standard procedures.
  • Making an active contribution to developing new business opportunities, building on current project work and through proposal development.
  • Contributing to practice and companywide strategic initiatives.
  • Mentoring and managing junior staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


_ Required_

  • Minimum of a
    undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Transport Economics, Transport Engineering, Urban Planning or related field.

7-9 Years consultancy or business advisory experience with exposure to transport or related sectors
:


  • Experience in
    managing and delivering consulting assignments and comfort with client and contract management.
  • Proven
    leadership skills and comfort with undertaking, and guiding junior colleagues in, the delivery of
    quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform proposals and recommendations to clients.

_ Preferred_

  • Experience of working in
    Africa and other frontier markets.
  • Experience in the
    formal public sector, including Integrated Public Transport Networks (IPTNs), or related sectors.
  • Experience in
    the informal public transport sector, its transformation and empowerment or related sectors.
  • Experience with
    projects in the public sector, across national, provincial and local spheres of government.
