Purpose of the Job
Lead and manage the financial and stores functions and provide input into the overall strategic
management of a Ardagh Glass manufacturing plant to ensure the achievement of all business
objectives and targets and maximization of shareholder value.


Responsibilities:


  • Participate as a member of the plant management team to ensure effective plant level strategic
planning and management of the plant, and achievement of all business objectives.

  • Monitor and interpret results and key financial and nonfinancial trends and advise on required
interventions to ensure ongoing achievement of business results.

  • Manage all plant related finance policy and procedures to ensure sound governance of the plant
finance function.

  • Initiate and lead the ongoing review of processes and systems (including IT) and oversee projects
aimed at ensuring continuous improvement in the plant and reduction in the cost per ton of glass

produced.

  • Oversee and manage the monthly, interim and yearend financial process to ensure the accurate
and timeous reporting of business results.

  • Manage, analyze, monitor and control the annual budgeting process to ensure the budget is
aligned with the business strategy and costs are maintained within budget in order to achieve

targeted profitability levels.

  • Oversee and manage the creditors function to ensure the correct and timeous payment of
suppliers.

  • Oversee and manage the debtors† function to ensure the timeous collection of all monies due to
the organization and achievement of Debtors Outstanding Days targets.

  • People management, including the recruitment & selection, performance management,
development, reward, communication and motivation of staff to ensure the plant Finance function

is optimally staffed with competent employees who are able to meet their objectives.


Required skills / qualifications:


  • B Comm. Degree and 58 years relevant experience of which at least three should have been
acquired within a manufacturing plant environment.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of financial management principles and standards
  • Knowledge of procurement, logistics and warehousing
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing environment and processes
  • Knowledge of the external environment and its impact on sales and cost structures
- e.g.,

customers, competitive opportunities and threats, interest rates, exchange rates.

  • Strong skills in costing and related skills e.g., process analysis, variance analysis

  • Strong knowledge of computer systems and software
