PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Total responsibility and accountability for effective leadership and profitable management (shareholder returns) of multiple functions as per strategic plan.

Maximization of financial performance, and working environment in accordance with the standard operating procedures, policies and quality standards of the Group.

RESPONSIBILITES RELATING TO KEY PERFORMANCE AREA

Strategic Direction

  • Ensure the development of a realistic and attainable strategic business plan for the Department that defines operational goals and objectives
  • Interpreting organisational strategic objectives to develop and formulate appropriate business strategies and directives to ensure the attainment of organisational objectives
  • Ensure that the strategy is signed off by COO
  • Effectively communicate the strategic direction to the HODs and staff
  • Ensure that aggregate functional results meet or exceed targets
  • Ensure timeous, accurate and compliant reporting to COO
  • Ensure adherence to relevant compliance regulations and legislation i.e occupational health, safety and environmental compliance
  • Ensure that audit targets are achieved

Operations

  • Managing Business Unit Logistics end to end
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the Business Unit
  • Ensure service delivery to Clients and operational efficiencies that relates into profitability for the Company
  • Issuing new directives and changed procedures to ensure operational and process efficiencies and control are maintained.
  • Managing and controlling the expenditure of your Division and operations according to financial procedures to minimize expenditure
  • Implementing, monitoring and evaluating projects as well as facilitating project teams to ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources
  • Plan, manage "all controllable" cost factors
  • Accountable for financial performance (measurement budget / tender vs. actual)
  • Ensure that Client Contracts are efficiently managed and sustained

Maintenance

  • To investigate, search and implement alternative solutions to avoid exorbitant/unnecessary expenditure to better control expenses for the Hub.
  • Set up budget and control expenditure based on approved budget
  • Prioritise and properly plan maintenance and repairs of company equipment/property in line with operational requirements
  • Developing maintenance procedures, update existing procedures and ensure implementation thereof
  • Manage execution of planned maintenance of all company equipment/property
  • Manage internal/technical/process projects and develop and control maintenance budget and consumables inventory.
  • Planning new projects / quotes etc.

Financial Control

  • Lead, the effective management of the functional areas to maximize financial performance while upholding quality standards and maximizing levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Actively manage finances, budgets and related accounting systems by ensuring the appropriate financial controls are in place and maintained to control overheads and expenditure, manage cash flow and ensure profitability.
  • Liaise with procurement for purchase of supplies and formalizing of contractual commitments through the establishment and maintenance of sound procurement processes and stock management.
  • Accurate and timeous reporting to Head Office on agreed deadlines, which clearly explain operational effectiveness, trends and variances.
  • Ensuring that proactive treasury, management accounting and financial management practices are adhered to.
  • Managing and controlling the expenditure of all branches and operations according to financial procedures to minimise expenditure

People Management

  • Manage and oversee HR initiatives, including the recruitment, induction, remuneration, development, succession and training of all staff according to business demands and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance to relevant legislation: including BCEA, LRA, EE Act.
  • Develop a relevant training plan that is aligned to strategic direction and competency requirements, e.g. skills shortages, succession plans etc.
  • Motivate and give direction to all employees.

Mentorship and Skills Transference

  • Ensure all subordinates and colleagues are upskilled and ensure transference of skills through mentorship and coaching,
  • Provide training and guidance for new employees and ensure they are assisted.

ADHOC

  • Any other reasonable adhoc duty as required or requested by management.
  • It should be noted that individuals may need to expand their roles / scope to cover the work load of other employees in times of high work loads or individuals whom may be absent from work. This is the sole discretion of management.
