Role Summary :
The Health & Safety (H&S) Officer will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures, conducting design sign-offs, performing site inspections, and ensuring quality control.
This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities :
1.) Health & Safety Oversight
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure that safety measures are in place.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety practices and procedures.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations and report any non-compliance issues to the Head of Operations.
- Review and sign off on project designs to ensure they meet health and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the engineering and project management teams to integrate safety considerations into the design process.
- Provide recommendations for design improvements to enhance safety and compliance.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor health and safety practices and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Identify and document any safety hazards or violations and work with site managers to implement corrective actions.
- Ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained and used correctly by employees and contractors.
- Oversee quality control processes to ensure that all installations and projects meet the highest standards of workmanship and safety.
- Conduct quality inspections and audits to verify that work is completed to specifications and industry standards.
- Document and report any quality issues or deviations from standards, and work with the operations team to address them.
- Investigate and document any incidents, accidents, or near-misses, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of all health and safety incidents and report findings to the Head of Operations.
- Collaborate with external agencies and regulatory bodies during inspections and investigations.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and regulatory changes related to health and safety.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in health and safety practices and implement changes as necessary.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality within the organization.
Qualifications :
1-3 years experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the renewable energy or construction sectors.
Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and industry standards.
Certification in health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, SAMTRAC) is preferred.
Proficiency in using health and safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
