Job Overview:


Requirements:


  • A relevant nursing qualification (B Cur Degree / or relevant management qualification)
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council with an additional qualification in
  • Operating Theatre
  • Experience in leading, managing and supporting a large team of individuals
  • Compliance with the SANC Code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations
  • Compulsory BLS Certification
  • Advanced computer literacy and good understanding of labour legislation financial and chain management principles
  • Able to work long hours and shifts when required

The main purpose of this position:
The Unit Manager will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that Quality

Nursing Care and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multidisciplinary team

In accordance, the Unit Manager will be accountable and responsible for coordinating capacity building, mentoring, coaching, training and development in the unit


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Ensure that your unit is providing safe, cost effective quality patient care in line with the clinical governance strategy of Clients Hospital and evidence based practice
  • Evaluate the patient journey via patient experience and stakeholder contribution
  • Evaluate and monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their car
  • Ensure intra operative patients' safety, surgical pause and Bluebird is done
  • Promote health and wellbeing of patients and employees
  • Follow P/P
  • Ensure the principles of infection prevention and all international standard precautions are adhered to including H/Safety
  • Hospital calls
  • Implement group quality initiatives, manage POC, and manage Drs /staffing and CSSD
  • Liaise with public liability with regards to all incidents of potential risk to the business
  • Responsible and Accountable for overall running of theatre
