Description

We are looking for qualified individual to be responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines in a workplace at the East London Branch.

And to play a crucial role in promoting a safe working environment by advising on safety measures, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative measures.


DUTIES

  • Research and implement (training or posters) new safety procedures, PPE, etc.
  • Ensure all lifting equipment is checked and tested as per legal requirements.
  • Ensure all driven machinery (forklifts, ships cranes, mobile cranes, etc) is checked and tested as per legal requirements.
  • Ensure all machine operators are certified as per legal requirements.
  • Ensure that lifting equipment is used as per manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure that hoppers and conveyers are set up and operating safely.
  • Do risk assessments during operations for any danger or possible dangers, implement measures to eliminate or isolate this danger, document this for perusal by Transnet, DoL, SAMSA.
  • Have quarterly meetings with safety representatives, discuss safety issues, incidents and find ways of minimizing or eliminating them.
  • Arrange for training of staff in safety related matters. (safety induction etc.)
  • Meet with shipping lines, Transnet and customers to establish safety requirements.
  • Do monthly spotcheck on safety equipment, fire fighting, first aid, safety harnesses, etc.
  • Ensure safety representatives have completed monthly and quarterly inspection lists.
  • Investigate safety related incidents and accidents.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualification in SHEQ /SAMATRAC
  • Computer literacy
  • 23 years' experience in a similar position
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Initiative, drive and ability to work with mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Occasional long hours and weekends.

From R10,000.00 per month
