Job Advert Summary:


Purpose of the position:


To provide psychosocial services under the supervision of a social worker within the context of the Care and Treatment programme focusing on people living with HIV (PLHIV), adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), adolescent boys and young men (ABYM) who are at risk of interrupting treatment.

This will include screening and risk-based assessment using the available tools, and referral to a social worker for therapeutic social work services.


The social auxiliary worker (SAW) will also conduct adherence support within the framework of adherence guidelines addressing disclosure and adherence issues, mental health, as well as engage with relevant stakeholders such as government departments, and partners in the social and health work fields.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Certificate in Social Auxiliary Work from a recognised college or institution
  • Minimum of 2 years' related experience

SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions)

  • Proficiency in English and isiXhosa languages
  • Valid code 8 driver's licence
