Our client in the Retail Food and Clothing industry is currently looking for a
Department Manager Foods, Beauty and Home, in Pietermaritzburg.


Responsibilities:


  • To deliver exceptional customer service and maximise selling opportunities through effective people and process management.
  • Drive sales and stock management to maximize business profitability.
  • Ensure stock integrity by adhering to correct stock management processes (e.g., red flag processes, Never Out of Stock (NOOS), Temporarily Out of Stock (TOOS), shopkeeping disciplines and In-Store Now [ISN]).
  • Optimise selling space.
  • Effective engagement with planners.
  • Launch promotions in line with trading notes and merchandising principles (trading notes and planograms) for a complete customer shopping experience.
  • Drive interdepartmental integration e.g., Product Groups, Location planners, Head office and within store (and include Trading Manager).
  • Ensure exceptional customer service at all touch points.
  • Ensure effective product knowledge within the team.
  • Drive replenishment to ensure availability.
  • Ensure efficient shopkeeping and housekeeping disciplines.
  • Manage customer interactions, complaints and requests.
  • Evaluate customer satisfaction reports and devise and implement corrective action plans.
  • Manage shrinkage and implement key instore processes.
  • Ensure compliance to Consumer Protection Act.
  • Ensure implementation and action outcomes as per shrinkage plans.
  • Analyse high/out of tolerance shrinkage lines and develop and implement action plans.
  • Ensure effective implementation through red flag processes formulate action plans, implement and follow up (selfassessment of all compliance processes).
  • Analyse reports and trends and implement action plans.
  • Print relevant daily/weekly/monthly reports.
  • Interpret information and formulate and implement action plans.
  • Identify challenges, trends and opportunities to drive continuous improvement (e.g., Business Intelligence (BI), management reports and daily/weekly/monthly packs).
  • Manage equipment and the endtoend stock movement processes in the store.
  • Engage with the Distribution Centre regarding stockrelated issues.
  • Ensure stock accuracy through counts processes and inventory adjustments.
  • Drive and control replenishment from the stockroom and holding areas to the floor to mitigate risk.
  • Effective and timeous implementation of launches and promotions within guidelines and budget.
  • Ensure availability of stock/merchandise to implement launches and promotions.
  • Manage nonavailability and substitute when necessary.
  • Conduct floor walks to ensure implementation guidelines have been adhered to.
  • Adhere to store processes.
  • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHASA) and legal requirements (including hygiene audits).
  • Ensure compliance to internal controls (e.g., access and keys).
  • Assist with commercial and operational duties (e.g., weekends, days off and power hour).
  • Communicate and train employees and contractors on store operational policies.
  • Ensure effective resource/workforce planning and management in line with legislation and people policies.
  • Lead, develop and retain staff.
  • Manage the endtoend People processes (attract, develop, retain).
  • Drive and manage the Integrated Performance Management processes.
  • Develop and coach the team.
  • Ensure consistent engagement with the team (e.g., Let's Talk and People Thursday).

Requirements:


  • Matric.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous.
  • Between 13 years of relevant managerial experience.
  • Driver's licence.
  • Technological proficiency.

Salary:
R210 000,00 - R260 000,00 per year


Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:


  • Managerial: 3 years (preferred)
