    Description
    Job Description:

    As our Exploration Geologist some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Planning drill borehole positions, execute drilling, maintain geological log and capture geo-data – advisory authority.
  • Ensuring compliance to standards, policy and procedures e.g. core and final depth blocks management, survey and chips samples, rehabilitation of borehole areas – advisory authority.
  • Ensuring that core and chip logging is done to the agreed standard and ensure that logs are captured onto relevant geological database.
  • Ensuring that drill hole data is verified before it is made available to Geo-data to ensure accuracy of the data, upon completion of a drill hole.
  • Ensuring drill holes are sampled and numbered as per the QA/QC protocol for chemical analyses.
  • Verifying that geological descriptions correspond with analytical results.
  • Validating data in the relevant database to ensure integrity of data. Once validated, ensure availability for utilisation by other sections.
  • Ensuring safe record keeping of borehole information after sign-off – monitoring authority.
  • Ensuring the importation of information into relevant storage and modelling software and update the model to identify areas of further exploration – advisory authority.
  • Ensuring accuracy and integrity of geo-data through surveying and sampling and interpretation – monitoring/advisory authority.
  • Using an updated geological model to identify areas of further exploration (position and depth of bore holes).
  • Ensuring all interpretations are verified before signed off by the Specialist Exploration Geologist to be approved and sent to Geo-data for the wire framing process.
  • Supervising drilling contractors to ensure compliance with exploration plan and contract – management authority.

  • Keeping environmental impact within statutory requirements to ensure compliance to statutory requirements is met.
  • This role is in the Discovery & Geosciences (GEO) department on a band 6.10 level reporting to the Specialist Exploration Geologist Brownfields

    Qualifications:

    You will be required to have the following:

  • BSc Hons in Geology
  • Valid Driver's License
