    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    The purpose of this post is to lead through servant leadership and transformation to ensure the efficient and effective oversight and management of the Faculty and institutional Timetabling functions. Through consultative engagement the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, processes and strategies provide for the effective and efficient functioning of Faculty Academic Administration and Timetabling (FAAT) and functions in the broader Academic Administration (AA) where required.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Lead, oversee and manage through humanising consultative engagement the Faculty timetabling staff and the institutional Central Timetabling Office to ensure compliance with relevant Timetabling, Faculty Academic Administration, Academic Administration and related institutional policies and procedures in support of strategic goals.
    • Oversee and manage business processes relating to institutional Timetabling and Academic Administration to ensure efficient and effective processes and procedures.
    • Oversee and manage governance and service delivery of the Faculty timetabling staff and the Central Timetabling Office.
    • Oversee and manage human resource management and transformational change within the Central Timetabling Office.
    • Provide training to staff and students on Timetabling.

    CORE COMPETENCIES

    • Professional knowledge and understanding of relevant institutional Timetabling and Academic Administration rules, policies, procedures and systems.
    • Professional verbal and written communication skills to ensure and achieve the required standard of policy and report writing.
    • Excellent ability to oversee, manage and perform multiple functions concurrently for long periods while attention is continually divided between a wide variety of tasks, both within and outside Academic Administration and Timetabling. Work is performed within tight deadlines with considerable interruptions and under stressful circumstances and include planning, organizing and quality assurance.
    • Excellent ability to oversee and manage independently within a diverse team to build relationships in order to gain cooperation from staff and students.
    • Excellent ability to take initiative in problem solving through investigation to independently identify, evaluate and decide on the most relevant solution to solve complex student and staff Academic Administration matters.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Required minimum education:

    An appropriate M + 3 qualification (NQF level 7)

    Required minimum experience:

    At least 3 to 5 years' relevant Timetabling experience at a Higher Education Institution;

    AND

    At least 3 years' relevant Timetabling managerial experience.

    In considering candidates for appointment into the advertised posts, preference will be accorded to:

    • persons from designated groups as guided by the approved Equity Plan; AND
    • to candidates with Senior managerial experience in a Timetabling environment; AND
    • to candidates with extensive knowledge of the CELCAT and ITS timetabling products; AND
    • to candidates with ICT related experience in a timetabling environment.

    Shortlisted candidates will be required to avail themselves for psychometric testing which would inform the shortlisting and/or contribute towards the interview process.
