My client in the Events industry is looking for a full-time Scenic Production Manager overseeing all scenic production for the Company.


The role will be based primarily at our warehouse and workshop in Randburg, but there will be times when you'll need to work from our Cape Town office and undertake other project related travel as needed.


Responsibilities:


  • Liaise with clients to understand project requirements, briefs & deadlines
  • Attend site visits & client meetings as required to develop projects collaboratively
  • Interpret project briefs and translate them into quotations & initial drawings
  • Cost and budget each project accurately and efficiently
  • Order materials as required in conjunction with the workshop manager
  • Create project paperwork to communicate project requirements to internal & external staff
  • Create Health & Safety paperwork to support project designs
  • Manage scenic logistics across multiple projects in conjunction with the relevant ops managers
  • Supervise projects on site, managing all aspects of delivery from load in to load out
  • Liaise with venues to build positive relationships and ensure projects are delivered within required parameters
  • Finalise projects following completion, debriefing with clients, internal staff & external suppliers where required.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for business development
  • Maintain a strong awareness of developing trends, materials and technologies
  • Champion and promote best practice in all areas of project delivery and Health & Safety
  • Support the management team in developing processes and procedures to improve all aspects of the company's scenic operations

Requirements:


  • Five+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience of live event sets, conference scenic elements, exhibition builds, popup stands and activations
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience of staff and crew management
  • Experience of using AutoCAD, Vectorworks and Sketchup drawing packages
  • Proven track record in design realisation
  • Efficient team working across multiple disciplines will be needed throughout the lifetime of projects as you liaise with creative, production, and the workshop teams.
  • Knowledge of the scenic/exhibition production process and resource/timescales needed to realise production requirements
  • Excellent allround communication skills with good literary and numeracy
  • Proven ability to coordinate set/scenic/exhibition production aspects of live events effectively
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
  • Selfmotivated and able to work under your own initiative, with an enthusiastic and flexible approach to your work
  • Proven ability to deliver a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers. The ability to inspire confidence in those you work with
  • Ability to read/interpret complex CAD drawings
  • Budgeting and financial skills
  • Resourcefulness and ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Unrestricted driver's license
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as dictated by business needs.


Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours, long hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays, if and when needed.
