    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    Nelson Mandela University is seeking an experienced, energetic, innovative societies project manager to work within the arts, culture, and heritage department, within the University. The fundamental purpose of the role is to support the activities from the student cultural societies and key projects in the department. The professional with a passion creativity, who has experience in both the visual and performing arts will use arts management to drive the resolutions that come in the from projects as parts of a team.

    The purpose of this post is to work with the Arts, Culture and Heritage to increase institution- wide awareness and participation in the activities of the department. The Officer also serves as a liaison between Student Societies and the department and supports the programs of the Societies, Residences, and all student life offices.

    The role is in support of the Arts, Culture and Heritage Management of the University through project, administrative, and analytical reporting. This is to achieve institutional goals and important factors towards an engaged and transformed Arts, Culture and Heritage strategic intentions, that are in service of society and performs at a high level of professionalism.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Liaise with external and internal stakeholders regarding the activities of Arts, Culture and Heritage
    • Student Societies support
    • Event coordination
    • General Administration
    • Budgeting for Student Societies and Departmental events

    CORE COMPETENCIES

    • Extensive knowledge Of the Arts, Culture and Heritage sector.
    • Experience in working in Higher Education and the Arts, Culture and Heritage industry.
    • Extensive experience in developmental projects, with a preference to youth markets.
    • Effective people management skills to manage conflict and work with a diverse array of people.
    • Working knowledge of ITS.
    • Strong communicator and ability to effect succinct reporting.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • M+3 qualification in Social Sciences, Management Sciences, or related field.
    • 3 to 5 years relevant working experience.
      • The candidate must have demonstrated broad knowledge of the Arts, Culture and Heritage disciplines, genres.
      • A broad understanding of transformation through the arts and culture in performing arts.
