Role Headline

TheSr. Project Manager is responsible for supervising the delivery of an EPCcontract involving construction and building works in a multi-contractorenvironment. The Site Project Managerwill be responsible for ensuring that the project is completed safely, on time,within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Position is for a project specific need which isexpected to last 24-28 months, but a well-qualified candidate will beconsidered for a permanent position with the local team or a global role aheadof project completion.

Responsibilities of the Role

Empowerment:

·Drives own empowerment with adequate signatureauthorization and target agreement to manage the on-site project asentrepreneur according to the organizational standards.

·Supports the POO (Project Office Organization) Project Manager with responsibility on project results including budget,financial management of risks, opportunities, claims, scheduling and EHS; actsas owner of his/her project.

·Provides direct leadership for the site projectteam (i.e. performance reviews, coaching, development, and training) of matrixorganization.

Develop strategies for the project:

·Progress reporting to POO Project Manager. Acts asadvisor to support POO Project Manager reporting to management.

·Develops and considers strategic targets forproject site in line with responsible POO Project Manager.

·Supports the POO Project Manager to represent theproject site in the relevant decision boards internally and externally.

·Identifies/creates additional opportunities withinhis/her ongoing projects.

Develop project plan:

·Work with the projectteam to develop a project plan that supports customer requirements and projectmilestones.

·Work with theproject team to develop a procurement plan to support timely initiation of sitesubcontractors to support schedule.

·Oversee projectlogistics plan to assure all equipment and materials arrive on site to supportconstruction.

·Review projectengineering to support constructability and local capability and materialavailability.

Manage project site team:

·Agrees targets and work packages with project teamand delegates defined work packages.

·Holds and seeks feedback pro-actively (e.g. team members,managers, customers).

·Demonstrates leadership to functionally assignedintercultural staff.

·Takes responsibility for own and supportsteam-members' work life balance.

·Supports team-members' personal development.

·Fosters ownership culture within the project team.

·Cooperates closely with line managers and experts.

·Facilitates and monitors effective teamcollaboration also in virtual environment.

·Regularly performs lessons learned activities andfeeds the results into own project and organization.

Manage project construction:

·Ensures proper ramp-up and execution on site.

·Develops actionplans and handles relevant planning elements and work results.

·Work with thePOO PM, and Scheduler to Monitor Project Schedules and do regular periodicassessment of the complete project, for keeping the project within targets withrespect to time, cost, quality, and system performance.

·Holds regular project site status meetings andorganizes acceptance of work results.

·Manage and oversee contractors on site to complywith Siemens safety program requirements.

·Oversee site contractors to initiate and implementconstruction to comply with engineering specifications, on time and withinbudget.

·Work with subcontractors to identifynon-conformance and minimize cost.

·Oversee site commissioning personnel to safely,commission equipment on time and within budget.

·Manage compliance to the requirements of localauthorities having jurisdiction (AHJ's).

·Documents all work results according to the validstandards.

·Manages site acceptance (tests), commissioning andfinal project handover/closure in a timely manner.

Manage project finances:

·Support periodic review of Project cash flow &financial review sheets (cost monitoring).

·Supports regularfinancial controlling and reporting along the complete project lifespan.

·Identifies non-conformances and takes measures tominimize the impact.

·Supports project risk assessments to appropriatelyreflected in project calculation.

·Fosters change order approach consequently withadequate margin contribution.

Manage stakeholders:

·Support the POO PM, leading the coordinated projectcommunication with customer.

·Work with the POO PM to conduct stakeholderanalysis and manage efficient communication with relevant stakeholders (e.g.customers, partners, suppliers, authorities).

·Monitor and respond to implementation-relatedissues and work with clients to improve client satisfaction when escalated.

·Actively manages and solves conflicts.

·Drives intercultural communication andcollaboration.

·Selects and involves partners/subcontractors basedon project needs.

·Involves procurement at an early stage and otherrelevant stakeholders (e.g. legal, compliance, EHS).

Manage contracts, risk/opportunities andchange orders/claims:

·Follows the relevant LoA process as designatedProject Manager.

·Assesses and manages contracts including suppliercontracts.

·Manages project onshore part according to the NewCollaboration Model if applicable.

·Negotiates with stakeholders on change requests andincorporates them into contracts.

·At an early stage, identifies claim potential andworks on mitigation/avoidance strategies.

·Proactively drive and negotiate opportunities.

·Ensures monitoring and management of risks andopportunities.

·Devises suitable strategies for risk mitigation andensures the implementation of the risk mitigating measures.

Manage compliance to standards, rules, andregulations:

·Leads project members to act according to theBusiness Conduct Guidelines following the rules (e.g. tax regulations,delegation of employees, guarantees and export control).

·Sets necessary measures to ensure zero harm policyin environment, health and safety.

·Involves the necessary corporate governance units.

·Complies to local standards and law of countriesdirectly affected.

·Ensures the overall quality of works, products, anddeliverables.

Qualifications andExperience

·Relevant territory Degree/Diploma, preferably anElectrical Engineering qualification or similar.

·A ProjectManagement qualification.

·10 years' +experience in project management of proven experience in successfully handlinglarge cross-functional and cross-cultural projects with full profit and lossresponsibility.

·Advantage isPMP certification.

·Projectmanagement in the Civil works, Electrical and General contractor space

·StrongAdministration and time management skills.

·Advancedinterpersonal skills

·Ability to leadvirtual project team/s to a successful implementation across countries.

·Excellentintercultural skills to cooperate with customers throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

·Must be willingto travel. Hands-on experience with MS project on large scale turnkey projects

·Experienced inmultiple suppliers and subcontractor handling.
