WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE ROLE
Lead the site Maintenance function in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure.
Increase the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction by driving Key maintenance KPIs.
Manage the team on technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading the department.
Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS
- Understands the fundamental basics of TPM, WCM or any other Maintenance Strategy.
- Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensure full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively. Review & Update Maintenance policies, procedures & external maintenance schedules.
- Schedule both internal and external work(s) maximizing planned down time and reducing unplanned downtime while ensuring equipment availability is
- Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on each shift and small projects to the right skills in the team, planning and managing effective works
- Ensure that signed Service Level Agreements are in place with service contractors
- Strong Leadership and time management Skills by managing, coaching and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
- Assist in introduction of new machinery into the plant and managing of operational elements of projects.
- Develop clear accountability for maintenance material spend combined with a strategy to manage expenditure. Ultimately Maintenance budget will be a key responsibility of the role.
- To manage stores and critical spares & tools using best practices
- Review & update machinery SMP's & develop new ones
- Ensure conformance to relevant legislations, regulations & standards and ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered too.
- Optimize equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and product quality, ensuring the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Preferred Experience & Qualification
- 10 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry:
- High level of numeracy and budgeting understanding
- Staff management experience
- Good at MS office including Excel and other Programs
Job Types:

Salary:
R40, R43,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- food manufacturing: 5 years (required)
Staff Management: 3 years (required)
License/Certification:
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualifiation (required)
