_Job Specification_
Responsible for the management of the reporting function that is responsible for producing and distributing performance and regulatory reporting for clients
Ensure controls and procedures are in place and monitor compliance by the team
Guide and support the team as an escalation point for technical knowledge
Address gaps in knowledge through training
Manage performance of direct reports and deliverables of the Fund Accounting team
Ability to delegate effectively, plan for and meet deadlines
Manage priorities for the Administration team
Easily adapt to changes in the business environment
Use initiative, be proactive, and with problem-solving abilities
Think in a structured way and can document processes
Checking that the Fund Accounting teams processes and procedures for producing fund accounting and performance reporting are followed and completed within defined deadlines
Provide support for technical knowledge for the team
Guide them in resolving reconciliation differences and investigations
Review team deliverables before sending them to clients
Daily reconciliation of investment accounting records to different sources
Monthly reconciliation of unitisation data to asset manager data
Monthly client performance reporting
Fund Fact Sheets
Quarterly Regulatory reporting (eg. SARB Asset Allocation Reports)
Quarterly Total Investment Costs (TIC) calculations
Resolving queries and escalations related to activities performed by the Fund Accounting team
Work closely with the Administration, Trade Rebalancing, and Client Servicing teams to ensure those client portfolios are accurately reconciled and reported on
Ensure controls and procedures are in place and monitor compliance by the team
Proactively raise issues and address them promptly to resolve gaps and prevent the reoccurrence of errors
Ensure that staff are trained and equipped to perform their duties
Proactively identify training needs and ensure that training is conducted
Coach and mentor all direct reports
Identify development areas and guide team members in growing their careers
Manage team performance and address disciplinary matters that may arise
Participate in the recruitment and onboarding activities of new team members
Preparing monthly data and management report packs
Assist in preparing proposals, client report-backs, and other ad hoc queries/reports
Attend external meetings to address queries related to the deliverables produced by the Fund Accounting Team
Drive documentation of processes and procedures for the Fund Accounting team
Address gaps in knowledge through conducting training for Trade Rebalancing Team and other Operations teams
Initiate, drive and support internal improvement initiatives within the Invest department to ensure continuous business improvement


_Minimum Requirements_
Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting
8+ years experience in investment management or related industry
5+ years of management experience
Attention to detail
Quick learner
Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
Strong numeric and analytical ability
Interpret, analyze and able to handle large quantities of data.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Liaising with Asset Managers and Fund Administrators
Knowledge of concepts relating to unitisation
Understand pension fund and investment management industry trends
Able to work independently but also be a team player
Willing to put in long hours when needed
